Biography

He was born on August 3, 1942 in Bratislava. Even under the influence of his older brother Ivan, he stood on the stage as a child, in children’s roles in dramas at the Slovak National Theater. At the age of 16, he followed a short engagement at the Village Theater in Spišská Nová Ves. After graduating from acting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, he worked at the J.G. Tajovský Theater in Zvolen, the SNP Theater in Martin and finally in Bratislava in the Poetic Ensemble of the Nová scéna, today: Musical-Dramatic Ensemble of the Nová scéna, where Ján Mistrík works to this day. He has also performed in several theater projects outside his home stage, acted in films, television productions, and has had many radio and dubbing projects.
