Allan Kneefel

I was born in Indonesia to a very religious family that said going to the cinema was a sin, but somehow the movie was my happy place, even back then I asked my parents to study film, but as predicted they did not allow it and put me in to study economy instead, well I am still grateful that they did that and I know how hard they worked to pay my education fee.

After graduation I chose to work for a shipping company and then start my own company, I didn’t pursue film because I was too afraid of the fact that I am gay, because pursuing acting comes with the effect that your life will be in the public, and I start refusing opportunities that come to me and not listening to my heart. 

Somehow Universe kept dragging my path to what I love but I just didn’t listen to it, no matter if I was surrounded by friends who worked in the Film industry, directors, and actors, I was too afraid and not comfortable with my identity back then, so I didn’t listen to it.

Seven years ago I was moving to Prague but still running my company back in Indonesia Then COVID came and I could not fly to Indonesia to take care of my work, then once again universe dragged me to the path that I love. 

A friend asked me to be a part of The Gray Man as a background actor, At that time I just thought let’s meet Ryan Gosling and have fun with friends with new experiences and activities at Covid time, but then when I was on set, suddenly it brings me back on what I Love, there is a feeling that I can not explain, and this time I listened to the universe path to pursue what made me happy.

From extra to another background actor work, I met the actor community and filmmakers in Prague and it opened another door to be a part of short films, and commercials In 2023 I was in a Czech film, my first featured film Job, and my last project was cast in Blade runner 2099.
